Do you know why should we waiting for Santa to come home on a X’ mas Eve along with a Carol?
You are right! There are chances to get some surprise gifts and wishes to make your day wonderful!
Exactly what made me sit with my phone running zoom app on DM internship on a Christmas eve. I will explain what are my learnings. But, before that,
Positive Pressure!!
Have you ever heard of this?
Well, till the 2nd class of DM internship I knew( or experienced) only about Negative Pressure.
How the trainer in Deepak made his interns do the assignments with a high completion rate – that’s the positive pressure which I am talking about.
Also, if it compels me to wait for a training class on a X’ mas eve, that’s the aftereffect of this Positive Pressure( I don’t know why – I fall in love with these 2 words – such positive energy pouring upon hearing these words).
I strongly believe, giving pressure positively can do wonders, that’s one of the essential things a digital marketer should practice to covert his audience to his customer.
Fine, here is quick wind up before going in deeper to the learnings,
Who am I
Know your niche, product and services
Who is my audience
Find the interests and demographics of people reading or listening to you.
Who is my customer
Define your customer. Work for them.
Knowing your customer – the essence of the 2nd day class of Deepak.
Let’s start with,
Rewind of the 2nd-day class,
# Point 1:
Learn > Do > Teach
This is the first time that I am hearing about the Golden Triangle.
Learn – Do – Teach.
If a student asks a rare question in the classroom, it is not necessary for the teacher should know the answer. The teacher may refer some books and try some experiments (if h/she doesn’t have ego/complex 🙂 ) and will find the answer for his/her student.
Same way, try teaching and sharing the knowledge that you earned and practised. You will get more knowledge leads to more networking.
# Point 2:
Learn through mistakes
In the internship, all of us started content writing, first time for many of us. English was not the primary medium for many students while they have done with schooling. Though we have started writing 1000 word articles by the impact of the positive pressure – Deepak was speaking about, a start of learning through mistakes.
# Point 3:
How should you have your conversation with your client – The pillar of Marketing
I remember when I started my career in a Digital Marketing company we used to have many client meetings at our office. Sometimes, I never understood what the client really wanted, but my manager made them believe in our services with his exceptional communication capabilities.
There the point comes, your client may ask you a thousand questions, but you may have only one answer for those questions. But you should convey that one answer in a thousand ways. There lies the talent of a Marketer.
a) 1:1 before 1:Many
Try to communicate with 1 person effectively that itself turn you to communicate with 1000s of people at a time. Always create the feel of direct speaking either you are sending an email(email marketing) or speaking on a stage(public speaker).
The impact will be huge if you can speak to many people just like you speak to your friend.
b) Be Authentic (Be Who you are)
When I started working as an SEO executive, I had many social media accounts in many names to reach more people and drive traffic to client sites. I don’t know whether I reached them or not but it didn’t give me any satisfaction with my work.
Later, I started to communicate as who I am and what is my capabilities, eventually lead me to many more opportunities.
Nobody wants to communicate with a fake profile on social media. If you want to be authentic on social media, be who you are.
# Point 4:
How to become a better marketer?
Your life experience can make you good marketers.
Few simple tips,
- Do travel a lot – go for solo travels often
- Learn new languages
- Learn new skills (music, dance)
- Do public speaking
These are some of the best tips to get more life experiences to make you a good marketer.
NOW THE POINT COMES, THE ESSENCE OF THE 2ND DAY CLASS.
# Point 5:
Who is your Audience?

If you want to communicate with your customer effectively, you must know who are they. You cannot make everyone as your audience.
You should figure out,
- What are their interests?
- What are their motives?
- What are their demographical preferences?
Define your customer
Once you know your audience you should define your customer. For that, the following terms will help in a better way.
- Demographics – Includes age, location, mother tongue
- Psychographics – Includes interests, what they like, what they fear
If you can define your customer in this way, you can communicate them in a better way either through emails or direct messages or even social media posts.
A few important takeaways,
- Always write to a single person at a time.
- Join mental conversations
- Use often E-mail and Messaging than social media posts
- Write in a manner for a continuous to read to Headline ->First Sentence -> Second Sentence -> Third and Fourth (Means flowing content to get the attention of customer)
- Address your customer with your first name
- Write emails like you are talking to your friend
- Go for calls and surveys to know your customer
- Focus on the centre, not on the border – To find your customer.
Ahh!! Graduation Party!
First 3 top Students getting flight tickets to attend the graduation party in Bangalore if they are out of Bangalore!!
Deepak announced between the class…
Later the class went with a live exercise of finding Deepak’s customer Avatar in digital marketing through a survey form and a call with Sagar.
Now its time to find my Customer Avatar – The Assignment
I am focusing on areas of pregnancy care during and after in India. So, I have created a google form to get to know the difficulties and the pregnancy care products that they were using or aware of.
Here is the link to the survey – https://forms.gle/2RLc9HUmQpmhY2GK8
I have approached my colleagues as well as friends who are mothers and carrying.
Here is the Survey result
- Many of them experienced severe back pain, swelling in legs during/after their pregnancy period.
- Most of them know about pregnancy care products like pregnancy pillow, belt.
- Around 30% of women bought pregnancy care products during or after pregnancy care time.
So the market is huge for pregnancy care products in India.
Let me Conclude,
Eventhough I knew who is my audience I had never tried to reach them over a survey or call or email to know the difficulties that they are facing.
I got a unique way to find my customer avatar through this class. That’s my topmost learning from this class.
The gift of Santa on a Christmas Eve.
